ABOUT

I'm Mihaela — and I'm so glad you found your way here.

I'm a Belgo-Romanian artist, wife, mother of two, and full-time worker who paints in the in-between moments — early mornings, quiet evenings, stolen hours. Painting is not just my passion; it's my sanctuary, the place where I give myself permission to be fully, unapologetically myself.

That permission didn't come easily. From childhood, I was captivated by colors, petals shining in the sun, and the wild beauty of the Transylvanian hills where I grew up. I dreamed of becoming an artist, a fashion designer — someone who infused the world with beauty. But like many women, I was quietly steered elsewhere. It was only when I arrived in Belgium alone at 19 that something shifted. I walked into my first painting class, picked up a brush — and never looked back.

My work draws on those early memories: the seasonal light of Transylvania, flowers growing freely on hillsides, landscapes that asked no one's permission to be beautiful. Through bold brushwork, expressive lines, and luminous color, I transform these memories into abstract visual symphonies — floral abstractions and landscapes that feel both deeply personal and universally felt.

Influenced by the gestural freedom of Joan Mitchell and inspired by time spent learning with artists like Flora Bowley, Amira Rahim, Llewellyn Skye, Kate Owen and lately Nicholas Wilton my creative process is an intuitive dance between color and form. I follow where the canvas leads, layering, refining, extracting — until the essence emerges.

But beyond technique, my art carries a message — especially for women who carry an unlived dream. Those who were told, directly or silently, that boldness wasn't for them. That it was too late, or that they didn't come from the right place.

Through every painting, I want to say: bloom anyway. Trust your instincts. Honor where you come from. And paint your own world into existence — no matter how late you feel you are starting
